Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer a written contract?
Yes, I offer a written contract.
Where possible, I want to come across as easy to work with but I understand that some clients appreciate the reassurance that a formal agreement offers.
May we meet you before we sign a contract?
Yes!
I am flexible and happy to discuss any concerns or questions potential clients may have before committing to my services. Whether you prefer a face-to-face meeting, a phone call, a FaceTime session, texts, or emails, I am here to accommodate your preferred method of communication
What area do you cover?
Although I’m based in Cheshire, I am more than happy to travel throughout the UK and even internationally for your event. For bookings outside the North West, please note that travel costs and potential accommodation will be factored into the quote.
How long will you hold our date for us?
Upon your inquiry and initial interest in a date, I will tentatively reserve that date for you. Should another client express interest in the same date, I will reach out to you to offer the opportunity to confirm your booking before proceeding with the other inquiry. Bookings are ultimately handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
What are your payment terms?
My payment terms are as follows: To secure the date for your event, I require approximately one-third of the total fee. The remaining balance is due any time up to the night of your event. I am happy to provide invoices and receipts upon payment. Payments can be made via cash, bank transfer, or through an online payment form.
It’s also worth noting that these payment terms may differ if booked through a third party.
What payment is required to secure our date?
To secure the date for your event, I require approximately one-third of the total fee.
How much equipment will you set up for our Wedding?
This is a common question I get asked and in short, I will set up as much equipment as the time and space allocated by the event or venue allow. For example, if I have 45 minutes to set up in a small space next to a band, I may not be able to use as much equipment as I would if I had the entire room and three hours to prepare.
This is primarily why I don't offer predefined packages. I would hate to charge someone for a 'Super Premium setup' only to be limited by time and space constraints on the day.
You can check out the ‘Gallery’ page or my Instagram @djw.uk for more pictures & videos relating to my equipment
What is included in the cost of my event?
It’s worth mentioning, that there are NO HIDDEN FEES.
My fee includes all light and sound equipment, which is fully PAT tested. It also covers travel, VAT, use of a microphone, booth, music, and more. Additionally, I have public liability insurance up to £5M
How involved can we be in selecting music for our event?
This is a great question because some DJs prefer to control the majority of the playlist and supplement their choices with a small handful of your specific requests. Other DJs prefer to let the client choose the majority of the music, and then use their expertise to make the night flow seamlessly. I’m perfectly happy to take either approach. Either way, I will 100% be accommodating of your music tastes.
When do we need to submit our music requests?
I recommend providing your song list a few days before the event to ensure I have every track you'd like me to play. While I can certainly take requests on the day of the event, and I have a large music collection, there might be the occasional song that I don't have. Depending on the venue's internet connectivity, it might not be possible to download it on the spot, though this is rarely an issue
Can we submit a “Do Not Play” list?
Yes.
Do you take requests from our guests?
Yes.
I am happy to take requests from guests, provided they do not fall under any 'Do Not Play' list that has been pre-submitted. If a song contains explicit language or inappropriate content, I may need to seek approval from the event organiser or designated person, such as the bride or birthday guest, before playing it
When do you arrive to set up for our wedding?
I always arrive well in advance, allowing ample time for setup. The exact arrival time may vary depending on the venue and access to the room. Rest assured, I will allocate more than enough time and will coordinate with both the venue and the event organiser
What will you wear to our wedding?
I always choose to wear a suit or, at the very least, a shirt, tie, and trousers. If you prefer a different dress code, please let me know. I believe it's generally better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed, as it's much less likely to lead to complaints.
While I maintain this level of professionalism throughout your Wedding, please understand that my attire may be more casual during the process of loading equipment in and out of the venue.
How long have you been a DJ?
While I don't recall the exact date of my first DJ booking, I consider October 2017 to be the point at which I became a 'professional' DJ. Although I had undertaken a few DJ bookings before then, it was from that time onward that I began to approach it with a greater level of seriousness and commitment
Do you act as the “emcee” and make all of the announcements?
Yes
Yes, I consider making announcements an integral part of my role as a Wedding and Events DJ. I'm more than happy to handle announcements such as the cake cutting, first dance, buffet opening, and last orders. If you prefer to designate someone else for this role, that’s perfectly fine. Additionally, I like to use the microphone to introduce myself, personally welcome guests, and interact with them as needed throughout the event
Can we visit you at a performance?
Unfortunately, no. 99% of my bookings are private. I’d have to honour my client’s privacy and I’m sure you wouldn’t appreciate me inviting prospective clients to your Wedding for them to see me perform. You can however check out my Instagram @djw.uk to see some content from previous bookings that I’ve done to give you an idea.
Do you require a meal?
No, I don't require a meal. However, it would be very well received if one was offered
Are you insured?
Yes, absolutely. All my equipment is PAT tested and I have Public Liability Insurance up to £5M
Do you take any breaks?
I don’t take formal breaks, no, but I may need to occasionally step away briefly to go to the toilet.
What is your policy on alcohol or smoking during the wedding?
Firstly, I don't smoke or vape so no issues there. As a rule, I don't drink alcohol during a set as I would be driving to and from the venue.
Do you set up a sign or banner with your equipment?
No.
Opinions may vary, but I prefer to let my service speak for itself rather than actively promoting it at the event. Since my role is to support the wedding rather than be the focus, I carry business cards and will provide one if requested.
